CANDIDATES
Candidates for facelift and neck lift surgery include individuals who are experiencing signs of sagging and loose skin at the region of the mid face, lower face, and neck. Ideal patients are in good overall health and have skin that has retained some flexibility and elasticity. The typical age of our patients undergoing face lifting is 40 to 70 years old, however there is no standard age range. Candidates for the procedure are based on indications, which includes prominent jowls, sagging of the cheeks, platysma banding, and excess skin. Dr. Foulad will perform a thorough evaluation to help you decide which surgery or alternative treatment would best meet your goals.

TWILIGHT SEDATION
Dr. Foulad most commonly performs his facelift surgeries using IV sedation. During this type of sedation, you are asleep and have no pain. The benefit of IV sedation is that you do not have full body paralysis and that you are breathing on your own without needing a breathing tube. Also, compared to general anesthesia, the effects of IV sedation typically wear off quicker and there is usually no post-anesthesia nausea. There are times when Dr. Foulad uses general anesthesia, such as for patients who have severe sleep apnea. Regardless of whether your procedure is performed with IV sedation or general anesthesia, Dr. Foulad always uses a highly skilled board-certified anesthesiologist.
WORDS FROM PRIOR PATIENTS
DEEP PLANE FACELIFT & NECK LIFT
DEEP PLANE TECHNIQUE
Dr. Foulad performs an extended deep plane facelift, which provides a very natural and durable result. One of the most important features of his technique is that there is extensive release of the soft tissues of the face. Therefore, the tissues of the face can be lifted into a more youthful position without tension. The extended deep plane technique not only avoids pulling the skin, but also reduces tension on the deeper structures. This results in a very natural appearance and avoids the “pulled” look. The incisions also heal extremely well due to the tension free closure, which reduces the risk of widened scars.
THE NECK
A neck lift is often performed with a facelift in order to lift the sagging tissues of the face and neck as a single unit. Based on your specific case, Dr. Foulad may simply perform a lateral platysmaplasty or may perform more extensive deep neck work, such as reducing the subplatysmal fat, digastric muscles, and submandibular glands. Regardless of the techniques recommended for your case, Dr. Foulad avoids pulling the neck skin tightly and instead relies on lifting and sculpting the deeper structures.
